An invitation to our pianists

Ribble Valley International Piano Week and the British and International Federation of Festivals are delighted to announce a bold collaboration designed to encourage young musicians to attend both events. All junior entrants to Piano classes at the competitive music festivals in NW England will be offered free tickets to attend the launch concert for RVIPW, a solo piano recital by its Artistic Director, Martin Roscoe on 9th May 2018. As such, we would like to extend this offer to you at Manx Competitive Music, Speech and Dance Festival .

Chairman of RVIPW Marianne Bailey said “We at RVIPW are passionate about live music and bringing world-class musicians to the Northwest - we want to make it as easy as possible for the next generation of piano and music lovers to share our passion. This is a great opportunity for competitive music festival entrants to come along and hear a musician of great renown play a concert of accessible music. We have a fabulously loyal audience who have been coming to RVIPW for decades some of whom regard RVIPW as the highlight of their year but we are all aware of the importance of carrying the concert-going tradition forward to the next generation of music lovers. We also hope this added incentive might encourage a few more entrants to compete at the festival too!”

“It is part of our ongoing commitment to the arts that young people have access to both performance and viewing opportunities. An integral part of being a good musician is being a good audience member: honing the listening skills and reading a performer on the stage. We are delighted that in collaboration with RVIPW our festival entrants will now have the added opportunity to see musicians performing at the highest level, to see for themselves what can be achieved through hard work and nurtured talent. So, good luck to all young pianists entering our upcoming North West festivals, I hope you’re looking forward to experiencing both sides of performance!” - Chairman of the Federation, Steven Roberts.

RVIPW will also be offering a prize to the winner of Junior Piano Recital classes, a pair of tickets to the concert of their choice at the main festival, 18-21st July 2018.

Martin Roscoe, who, famously, was inspired to devote his entire career to music after attending a Prom at the age of 7 said “I'm delighted that we at RVIPW are offering this golden opportunity to young pianists and I hope they will find as much in the live concert experience to inspire and motivate them as I always have”.
