DEADLINE TO ENTER THE GUILD FAST APPROACHING

Jan 20, 2022

Entries for the 2022 Manx Music Speech & Dance Festival in association with Dandara will close on Saturday 5th February.

This year’s event will be held from 23rd April – 30th April at the Villa Marina and promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Exciting new classes for 2022 include Group Mime, Group Ballet, Songs from the Musicals for Years 3 to 8 and a themed class titled ‘Anything Goes’, with an ABBA theme. The Adult Stand-Up Comedy and Duet for Years 3 to 6, which debuted in 2018, will also return, as well as the well-established favourites.

Chairman of the Guild, Anne Clarke, said: ‘The Guild is back after a two-year break and we cannot wait for its highly anticipated return. With nearly 200 classes in music, speech, drama and dance across Guild week, there is something for everyone whether you are a complete beginner or an accomplished performer. We usually see around 3,500 performers over the course of the week and after such a long hiatus we’re hoping to see lots of new and returning faces.

‘As always, we must say a special thank you to our headline sponsor Dandara. Without its support we would not be able to put on the Festival – its backing is truly invaluable.

Local homebuilder Dandara became the first ever headline sponsor of the Guild in 2015 and has since helped it go from strength-to-strength.

Dandara Marketing Director Jo Orton commented: ‘The Island is home to such a high standard  of talent within the performing arts and it’s really important to us to offer our support to this prestigious event, which is a great platform for both well-established performers and rising stars. We’re looking forward to the return of the Festival and wish everyone the best of luck in their preparations for the event.’

The Guild will once again conclude with the choir concert classes on Saturday 30th April.

Entries can be sent to the Secretary using the entry form in the Syllabus, which can be found in newsagents around the Island or on the festival’s website. Classes can also be entered online at www.manxmusicfestival.org.  No late entries will be accepted.
