After a two years absence, the Manx Music Speech & Dance Festival, in association with Dandara, is set to burst into life in a fortnight’s time.
The event, also known as The Guild, returns to the Villa Marina from Saturday, 23rd April to Saturday, 30th April with exciting new classes ranging from Abba music and dance to mime and group ballet.
Stand-up comedy and news reading classes which were introduced for the most recent Guild in 2019 will also be back.
Just under 200 classes are to be held throughout the week with something for everyone to enjoy in music, speech, drama and dance, including the popular staples of brass bands, duets, songs from the shows, choirs and the coveted Cleveland Medal test.
In addition, the new ‘Anything Goes’ class promises to provide an interesting and fun opening night on 23rd April when competitors will perform their own choice of music and/or dance from Swedish pop sensations ABBA.
Organisers have also introduced a general admission adult ticket of £5 which provides all-day entry.
The Programme detailing the festival schedule is now on sale from outlets Island-wide.
Local homebuilder Dandara became the first ever headline sponsor of the Guild in 2015 and has since helped it go from strength-to-strength.
Dandara Marketing Director Jo Orton commented: ‘After two years without the Guild due to the Covid pandemic, I have no doubt the 2022 Festival will be extra special and know so many people are excited to again celebrate the finest music, speech and dance in the Isle of Man.
‘We’re looking forward to its return and wish everyone taking part the very best of luck.’
